1. Which are the Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) Components ?

  • HTTP Listener: listens to and handles incoming connection requests.

  • Modules (mods): The OHS modules extend the functionality of the OHS.

  • Perl Interpreter: a persistent PERL runtime environment, enabled by mod_perl Apache module. 

 


2. Which are the main OHS modules ?

 

Module Functionality
mod_dms Enables performance monitoring of various components using Oracle Dynamic Monitoring Service (DMS)
mod_oc4j Routes requests from the OHS to the OC4J
mod_oradev Enables WebDAV clients to connect to an Oracle database and process information in various schemas.
mod_ossl Enables the OHS to use SSL
mod_osso Enable the use of OracleAS Single-Sign On.
mod_plsql Enables the OHS to connect to an Oracle database and enables the Web applications to use Oracle stored procedures, using the PL/SQL gateway

 

 

3. How could I stop/ start OHS ?

 

$ opmnctl stopproc ias-component=HTTP_server

$ opmnctl startproc ias-component=HTTP_server

 

You musn't use the apachectl script, traditionally used to start up the Apache Web server, to start OHS. 

 

 

4. Where is the Oracle HTTP Server installed ?

 

The Oracle HTTP Server is installed in $ORACLE_HOME/Apache

$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache is the base directory for the OHS.

 

 

5. What is DocumentRoot directive used for?

 

DocumentRoot directory is the directory where OHS keeps the html files. The default location is htdocs directory.

 

 

6. Which is the main configuration file for the Oracle HTTP Server ?

 

httpd.conf
